We’re delighted to announce that we are one of three finalists in the Local Tea/Coffee Shop category of the Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards 2014. The awards are organised by Cotswold Life magazine, and showcase the best food and drink producers and suppliers in the region.
If you haven’t visited us before, you might be surprised to find us nominated at all. After all, we’re a bookshop, not a café, right? But independent book shops exist to offer a far more rounded experience for readers than you might get in a big chain store, or online. Pop into an indie book shop and you’ll find personalised advice on what to read next; showcased books about areas of local interest; a cosy children’s corner with pint-sized chairs for young readers. Your visit should be relaxing, unhurried, and above all – enjoyable. What better way to do that than with coffee and cake?
When we moved from our smaller premises in West Street, we were finally able to open the Jaffé & Neale café that had always been part of our plan. Good quality ground coffee, great tea, and fat slices of delicious cake made in Chadlington by the amazing Ceci. Whether you’re a brownie buff or a flapjack fan, we guarantee there will be something on our counter to whet your appetite.
The Oxford Mail popped in recently to test out our tea and cakes, and we were thrilled with their review, which concluded our bookshop and café was ‘a gem’. “Polly Jaffé and Patrick Neale have positioned their business in the heart of the community,” the review reads, “and are cannily reminding us that teatime can be most enjoyable with a good book.”
Is there any better combination?
